Transistors are semiconductor devices that can amplify or switch electronic signals. They are the fundamental building blocks of modern electronics, found in virtually every electronic device, from computers and smartphones to cars and medical equipment

We at Semiconductors India deal in all kinds of Transistors for various Business needs. Our clients are from Industries such as Automation, Optical, Wearable Technology, Navigation, Home Automation, Chemical, Automotive, Agriculture and many more.

There are two main types of transistors:

  1.  Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJTs): These transistors use both electrons and holes (the absence of electrons)                     as charge carriers. They are further classified into two types:
    • NPN Transistor: In an NPN transistor, the "P" stands for positive and the "N" stands for negative. The P-type material is sandwiched between two N-type materials. A small current at the base controls the flow of a larger current between the collector and emitter.
    • PNP Transistor: In a PNP transistor, the opposite configuration is used, with an N-type material sandwiched between two P-type materials. A small current at the base controls the flow of a larger current between the emitter and collector.
  2. Field-Effect Transistors (FETs): These transistors use only one type of charge carrier (either electrons or holes) and control the flow of current with an electric field. They are further classified into two main types:
    • Junction Field-Effect Transistors (JFETs): These transistors use a reverse-biased pn junction to control the flow of current in the channel. They are less common than MOSFETs.

    • Metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect Transistors (MOSFETs): These are the most common type of transistor today. They use an insulated gate to control the flow of current in the channel. MOSFETs are further classified into two types:
      • Enhancement-mode MOSFETs: These transistors require a voltage applied to the gate to turn them on.
      • Depletion-mode MOSFETs: These transistors are normally on and require a voltage applied to the gate to turn them off.

Transistors can be used in a variety of ways, including:

  • Amplifying signals: Transistors can be used to amplify weak signals, making them strong enough to be used for other purposes.
  • Switching signals: Transistors can be used to turn electronic circuits on and off, which is essential for digital electronics.
  • Performing logic operations: Transistors can be used to perform basic logic operations, such as AND, OR, and NOT.
